Our client is a $30B+ fund that takes a special situations and opportunistic approach to real estate investing targeting complexity, capital dislocation, and/or situation specific events. Investments include platform aggregations, stressed or distressed opportunities, sale leaseback transactions, liquidations, motivated/forced sales, public securities trading at a discount to intrinsic value, and loans collateralized by real estate. The team can invest using public and private market instruments and debt and equity across geographies. While the team focuses on real estate investments, the analyses resemble corporate transactions. The team believes that investors with experience outside real estate may add value to the investment process. The ideal candidates have 2-3 years of experience. Profiles may take various forms- two years of banking (restructuring or M&A especially) or any combination of 2-3 years of banking and investing in private or public credit or private equity. Candidates who joined PE or credit teams directly from college may also apply. MBAs will not be considered. A background that includes opportunistic or distressed investing would be especially attractive. Candidates should have outstanding modeling and analytical skills, deep intellectual curiosity, creativity, drive, and the ability to work independently and within a team.
