The Director, NEIDL (National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory) Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), serves as the NEIDL Chief Safety Officer (CSO) and is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of safety within the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL) and serves as part of the NEIDL leadership team overseeing the building. The NEIDLEHS Director's activities, roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the oversight of the overall NEIDL safety programs, including the BSL-2, 3 and 4 laboratories; implementation of integrated health and safety programs; policy development; Select Agent inspections and security; and delivery of safety services to students, faculty, and staff. This position reports to the University-wide Executive Director, EHS and works closely with the other EHS division Directors to ensure consistency in all program areas.
Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred. Prior experience in a BSL4 facility and prior experience in an environmental health and safety setting, preferably in a university.
