Summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Joseph Barnhart Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Baylor Medicine are seeking to hire a full-time, board-certified, joint reconstruction fellowship trained, orthopedic surgeon at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The anticipated start date is on or February 2026.

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement plans to ensure comprehensive, timely, and high-quality patient care services with maximum operating efficiency.
  • Participate in college, hospital, and community outreach activities to promote the Department, Division, and BCM. 
  • Ensure safe and effective care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
  • Provide orthopedic call coverage within the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and at BCM affiliate hospitals within the Texas Medical Center as required.
  • Support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resources to less experienced faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Attend required department, college, and hospital professional meetings.
  • May see patients in Baylor Medicine remote locations.

Minimum Qualifications

Position Qualifications: 

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school. 
  • License to practice medicine in the State of Texas. 
  • Completion of orthopedic surgery residency training and joint reconstruction fellowship training from programs certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or equivalent. 
  • Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience in providing medical care in an academic setting or equivalent practice.
  • Experience in using an electronic medical record, EPIC preferred.
  • Experience teaching in an accredited program.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills in collaboration with group practice.
