Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Level One Software Engineer (Python) to support mission-critical systems for a Federal agency in Fort Meade, Maryland. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level developer to build a career in secure software engineering. The candidate will work within a highly classified environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of Python-based applications under the direction of senior engineers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to supporting government mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain Python scripts and applications to support mission requirements.
Assist with debugging, testing, and documenting software components.
Collaborate with senior engineers, analysts, and technical leads to implement robust software solutions.
Participate in code reviews and adhere to secure coding standards.
Support integration, deployment, and troubleshooting of software in classified environments.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Python programming.
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) .
Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).
Basic knowledge of secure coding practices and operating within secure or government environments.
Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to follow technical guidance.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 2-4 years of hands-on software development experience.
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph (mandatory).
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications such as Python Institute , CompTIA Security+ , or similar credentials.
Exposure to secure coding concepts or federal IT security standards.
