Yunnan is the most diverse province in all China, both in its extraordinary mix of peoples and in the splendour of its landscapes. That combination of superlative sights and many different ethnic groups has made Yunnan the trendiest destination for China’s exploding domestic tourist industry.
Our language school in Yuxi was established in 2008 and has been growing ever since, now having over 600 students between the age of 4 to 14 years old. Class sizes are kept small, between 6 to 14 students per class. One of the largest TEFL organizations in Asia, we are a well-respected British company with schools in Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan and China. We were established in Shanghai in 2000 and currently have over 20 schools in China, teaching over 5000 students and employing hundreds of academic and non-academic staff. We expect our teachers to be well trained and motivated. In return, we offer excellent rates of pay as well as on-going personal development and assistance.
On arrival all teachers will undergo an initial week long Young Learners Training Course followed by on-going observation and feedback. We provide our own course materials and books, working to a set syllabus and course guide. This enables us to offer the perfect stress free teaching environment for the teacher to quickly achieve the results and standards that our schools offer to the students. In return for this quality of teaching we take great care of our teachers.
All teachers will be found accommodation on arrival to suit their personal requirements and any initial start-up costs will be covered by the school. Further to the professional support offered by our Academic managers and staff, each school has its own Welfare Officer to cater for any personal/health care a teacher may need during their stay.
Yuxi is located in the middle of Yunnan, which has been said to be the most beautiful province in China, because it has many lakes and mountains in the nearby regions. Yuxi has a subtropical plateau monsoon climate, which contributes to the Spring-like seasons year-round in the city. The warmest month is in June while the chilliest is in December or January. The average temperature is between 16 to 24 degrees Celsius.
The surrounding area of Yuxi has a rich working countryside and some of the largest ethnic diversity in China. Almost 60% of its peoples are minorities and many of these peoples can be seen daily in traditional dress. They regularly hold their own local festivals in the nearby towns and villages, which usually are only a short bus ride away from the city.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Yunnan is Tiger Leaping Gorge, located at the junction of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The gorge makes for some fantastic hiking, do not miss out on the chance of experiencing the world’s deepest canyon.
